The 13th International Congress for Veterinary Virology (ESVV) took place in Portorož, a picturesque town on Slovenia’s Adriatic coast, from September 2–5, 2025. Hosted by the EUROPEAN SOCIETY FOR VETERINARY VIROLOGY, the congress featured an EPIZONE session. The event provided a diverse scientific program with engaging presentations on veterinary virology, including important progress in ASF research. 🐷
Several of our EU partners involved in the ASFaVIP project participated actively in the event, contributing to the vibrant scientific exchange. At the close of the meeting, Sandra Blome (Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut, ASFaVIP project lead) concluded six years of dedicated board service, three of them as president, by officially handing over the presidency to Enrique Mateu (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona).
The congress was a great success, fostering new impulses for research and strengthening international partnerships in a collegial atmosphere. Congratulations to all presenters and participants for their valuable contributions. We look forward to the next ESVV meeting!
